Public Event Communications

VECTOR provides communications support for community events such as parades and charity runs held within the City of Vancouver. This provides our volunteer Amateur Radio operators with training and practical experience for emergency communications while operating in the field under various conditions. Celebration of Light

There was a Celebration of Light fireworks festival activation of the City of Vancouver Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) again this past year. This was a precautionary move and occurs each year for the four nights of the July-August event. It provides a valuable platform from which to monitor the largest public event held on the Canadian West Coast.

By activating the EOC, all the emergency services and other partners are able to respond instantly to any unplanned occurrence or to provide logistics needs. It also provides an opportunity to train staff in a realistic scenario without the pressures of an actual emergency.
